Exciting Highlights from the Annual Karate Awards Evening

This year, we celebrated exceptional achievements, shared inspiring accomplishments both individually and as a squad, as well as welcoming promising new talents that embody the vibrant spirit of our karate community. Let's take a closer look at the stand-out accomplishments and the fresh additions to our team.


Celebrating New Dan Grades


The evening began with a well-deserved round of applause for our newly promoted Dan grades. Congratulations to Emily Gromski, Tabatha Barnett, Todor Mollov & Yuliya Mollova to FIRST DAN and to Florence Findlater & Darran Findlater to SECOND DAN! Their hard work and determination led to these prestigious ranks. Each has shown incredible discipline and perseverance that underline the essence of karate.




Welcoming New Coaches

This year we have has the pleasure of explanding our coaching team, we have welcomed 3 new Team Leaders; Emily Gromski, Freya Bonham & Chris Bonham. Not only do we wish them all the best for the future but also look forward to seeing who they inspire to follow in their footsteps.


Amidst the celebrations, we were also excited to welcome two new coaches: Tabatha Barnett and George Shough. Both bring a wealth of experience and fervor for karate that will surely enhance our athletes' training experience.



Honoring Our Level 2 Examiners


We extend special recognition to our dedicated Level 2 Examiners, Darran Findlater and George Shough, for their critical roles in upholding our high training standards. Their efforts ensure that our karateka are not only skilled but also confident in their abilities.



Introducing New Squad Athletes


The evening also recognized our new squad athletes: Beth Gromski, Sam Gromski, Harry Wilson, and Molly Branchett. Stepping confidently into the spotlight, these young talents have shown remarkable potential and enthusiasm for karate.



Recognizing Junior Sports Persons


Next, we proudly honored Emilie O’Neill and Will Branchett as our Junior Sports Persons of the Year. Their impressive performances and contributions have set a high standard within the dojo.

Emilie with an incredible 100 Points earned through attendance and competition results.

Will with an impressive 75 squad points.



Celebrating Junior Most Improved


Among the notable surprises of the evening were the winners of the Junior Most Improved award: Alfie Spooner and Molly Branchett. Their dedication is a testament to the power of perseverance in achieving remarkable progress.



Honoring Senior Sports Persons


We were excited to congratulate Emily Gromski and Chris Bonham as our Senior Sports Persons. Their continuous dedication and stellar performances are exemplary.


Both athletes have consistently earned podium finishes, contributing to our dojo’s success in local and regional competitions. Their leadership extends beyond the dojo floor, motivating their peers while embodying the values of respect, discipline, and unwavering commitment.


Emilie with an incredible 105 Points earned through attendance and competition results.

 Chris earning himself 44 squad points.



Celebrating Senior Most Improved


Also worthy of recognition are our Senior Most Improved, Niamh Callaghan and Evie Bowkett. Niamh and Evie's growth reflects the spirit of continuous improvement, being the second year in a row they have earned this achievement, resulting in notable advancements.



Team Captains: Leading the Charge


We honored our new team captains: Beth Gromski for the AKA Team and Noah Vennard for the AO Team. Both captains are set to guide their teams through challenges while strengthening camaraderie within our karate family, ensuring everyone feels valued and motivated. With one of them earning enough points to win the HOUSE CUP in 2026.



Special Mentions and Thanks


With heartfelt gratitude, we recognized individuals who have significantly contributed to our community: Freya Robson, Fabian Bowkett, Darran Findlater, Hannah McGuire, and Duncan Branchett. Their efforts have enriched our dojo’s atmosphere and improved our members’ experiences. Whether this is through coaching or some wonderful photography skills.


The contributions from these unsung heroes often go unnoticed but are essential for our community's vibrancy and success.



Introducing Our New Squad Manager


Lastly, we warmly welcomed our new squad manager, Kim O’Neill! Her enthusiasm for karate and management expertise will significantly streamline our operations and enhance the overall experiences for our athletes.


With Kim leading our administrative efforts, athletes can focus on their performances and strive for excellence without distractions.



Looking Ahead


The Annual Karate Awards Evening was more than a night of awards; it highlighted our community's dedication and unity. The successes we celebrated are not just personal milestones; they represent our collective commitment to support one another in pursuing greatness in martial arts.
